It merely restates what should be a commonplace – knowledge is provisional. We would suggest that, although we cannot be certain of the truth of any particular 30 Interpretation and its others statement, our epistemology allows us to have some confidence in the accuracy or truth of those narratives we select as objective. Here we would point out that our perceptions must be more or less reliable because human practices occur in natural and social environments.

To the contrary, proponents of an interpretive approach might construct their interpretations using data generated by various techniques. They might draw on participant observation, interviews, questionnaires, mass surveys, statistical analysis and formal models as well as reading memoirs, newspapers, and official and unofficial documents.
Thus, the successes we have in acting in the world – chairing a committee, voting in an election, giving a speech – all suggest that our perceptions are broadly reliable.
